Interlude

Jeremy Creek has never been considered a normal young man..He was always an introverted child. He was considered a withdrawn, quiet person by everyone that knew him. Jeremy found it difficult, almost impossible,to find friends at school. In fact he was the victim of merciless bullying by most of the student body. Especially the students who played on the football team.It was the overlaying sense of cruelty on his classmates part that lead to him being chosen for the dubious "honor" of being the Smallville scarecrow in 1989. On the night before the meteor shower Jeremy Cheek was accosted by the members of the Smallville Crows football team. On his way home the boy was thrown into the back of one of the other boys truck. Creek was taken to The Riley Corn Field, kicking and screaming the entire way. The football players laughed as they stripped Creek down to his boxers and tied him to a post that had been placed in the middle of the field. Jeremy Creek was left in that field cold and alone. The very next day he was exposed to a close up meteor strike. The fourteen year old was found several hours later. He was taken to Grandville General Hospital.

September 21 2001    Grandville Critical Care Unit......

For over twelve years Jeremy Creek has been here. Since the meteor shower almost killed him he had languished in a coma. His exposure to the meteor rock had somehow halted his aging. To be more accurate the meteor strike that he had been exposed to had placed all of his vital functions, including his aging, into a state of hibernation. He still looked fourteen and not the twenty-six that he actually was. For twelve long years his doctors and parents had hoped that he would come out of his coma and tell them why he had been in that field in the first place. Little did anyone know that all  that was required to bring Creek back to the land of the living was a shock to his system. That very night a thunderstorm struck Grandville. A bolt of lightning struck Creek. The electrical surge restarted his system. Jeremy Creek opened his eyes again for the first time in over a decade. In the chaos that followed Creek vanished from the hospital.

Smallville.........    Three Days Later......

Jeremy Creek was lost in his memories of the past. As he looked down on the band that was on his wrist he realized, with a far amount of bitterness, that memories was all that he had. All of them were bad. All of the memories that have been assaulting him since he woke up in that hospital have driven him to return to the place that gave him all of the pain in his life. He remembered being accosted by several members of the football team. He remembered their girlfriends laughing as he was thrown into the back of the truck. What he remembered most was the pain and humiliation that he felt as they ripped his clothes off and left him tied to that post.He remembered their laughter as they walked away from him. He remembered a little redheaded boy that he asked to help him down. Then came the thunderous explosion as something hit the ground near him.He remembered feeling helpless as his body was pelted by massive amounts of dirt and glowing green rocks. He would have his revenge on those that had wronged him. Three days ago he discovered that he had the power to get his revenge on the bullies that left him in that field. While escaping from the hospital Creek discovered that he could control electricity. He had already used this new ability to kill three of those responsible for what happened. Creek thought that the deaths of Frank and his two cronies would change things but he had been wrong. When Creek discovered the newest scarecrow in the corn field he knew that more drastic measures needed to be taken.

Smallville......Home of  Jeremy Creek.........Five Months Later.......

Jeremy Creek was troubled. Five months ago he woke from a coma. He doesn't remembered anything other then waking up in the driver's seat of a truck that had been submerged in a few feet of water. He had absolutely no clue how he had gotten there. All he remembered was walking home from the library one night. There was a boy standing in the water with a look of concern on his face. He vaguely remembered the boy saying that his name was Clark. All he wanted to do was go home. No could tell him what exactly happened to him. All he knew was he had some kind of electrolyte imbalance that somehow had corrected itself. All his parents,Helen and Richard, could tell him was he was caught in the meteor shower thirteen years before. He had been found broken and bleeding in the corn field next to Ross' Creamed Corn. He had languished in a coma for all that time until the night of a lightning storm. He then mysteriously vanished. No one knew where he was until his parents were informed of his location by Sheriff Ethan Miller.Since coming back home Jeremy has wondered just what happened to him. He had gone over the last thing that he remembered more times then he cared to think about. As he stood in his parents kitchen,as was often the case, his thoughts turn to his lost memories. Something told him that he would find all of the answers that he sought there. Everything that he wanted to know was locked away in his mind. There were times when Jeremy laid down to sleep that he thought there was something that he had to do. Something important that he had lost when he lost his memory. He felt like there was something that he needed to do. Suddenly Helen Creek's voice cut through his thoughts as she said,"Jeremy, could you do the dishes for me I have to run to the market."

"Yes,mom,"Jeremy replied.

"Thanks son,"His Mother replied. "I'll be back in a little while."

Jeremy sighed softly as he began to fill up the sink. This was apparently going to be his lot in life. He was a nobody in school and he was a nobody now. All he knew was that he had lost thirteen years of his life. He could have made something of his life if it hadn't been taken away from him by a uncaring fate. Creek was so absorbed by his thoughts that he didn't notice that his fate was currently at hand. Creek had been so lost in thought that he never noticed the still plugged in toaster that was on a precarious perch near the sink. While he was reaching for a dish towel Creek accidentally bumped the appliance. This sudden jostling of the toaster completed its fateful slide into the water. Jeremy Creek's right hand just so happened to be in the water at the time. The lights dimmed as hundreds of thousands of volts of electricity rushed through Jeremy Creek's body.Creek screamed in agony as his body was lit up like a Christmas Tree. With one final surge of power Jeremy was thrown across the room..All was quiet as the young mutant laid unconscious on the floor, his body still smoking.A ripple of energy course through his body as his eyes popped open, his face twisted into a furious scowl as he stood up.

He remembered everything.

He remembered what they did to him. He remembered waking up in the hospital, his body surging with power. He remembered wanting to get his revenge on all of those who left him struck up in that field. He remembered that he had gotten his revenge on three of the people who where responsible for turning him into a freak. He still had to settle the score with the ones who survived his rage. The time for their retribution was at hand. The scowl on his face grew even uglier as he thought about the boy who stopped him from getting his ultimate revenge at the Homecoming Dance. They would all have to pay for what they did to him. The boy would have to pay for stopping him from administering the justice that those jocks so richly deserved.Jeremy Creek's desire for revenge was almost as primal as the forces he could command. He wouldn't be denied again. He would punish them all but he would start with one.As he blasted the kitchen door off its hinges and stalked out only one name came from his dry, cracked lips,"Kent."
